Real Madrid boss Juande Ramos has paid tribute to Raul after the striker became the club’s record goalscorer.

The forward surpassed Alfredo di Stefano’s long-standing tally of 307 on Sunday when he netted twice in a 4-0 victory over Sporting Gijon.

“Many years are going to pass before there is another player like Raul,” said Ramos.

“He’s always leading from the front, giving his all, taking responsibility in the team and all that remains for me is to congratulate him.”

Raul scored his first goal for Real against city rivals Atletico as a 17-year-old in November 1994.

He has now scored 216 times in the Spanish top-flight, 18 in the Copa del Rey and remains the UEFA Champions League’s top scorer with 64.

He was won three European Cups and six league titles during his time with Real.
