Roma coach Fabio Capello has admitted that tonight’s Coppa Italia derby match with Lazio is their only chance to salvagewhat has been a disappointing season.

Roma have gone through a disappointing campaign, with elimination in the second phase of the Champion’s League and currently hold eighth place in Serie A.

They go into the game with a 2-1 advantagefrom the first leg and with a tough run in at the end of the season, it may be their easiest route into European football next season.

“This could (be the game of the season) in the sense of making something positive by winning a cup” he said.

“I think derby matches are important but this one can be considered the most important one in my time at Roma.”

Despite the passion of the game from both sets of fans, Capello admits he will treat it as just another match.

“Personally, I treat the derby like other matches. Each match has different characteristics but for a coach I take the same approach.”
