Man United are now a best price 8/11 to win the Premiership after their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool yesterday…

Sampdoria have sacked Domenico Di Carlo and appointed Alberto Cavasin as their new coach following the club’s poor run since the transfers of forwards Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini in the January transfer window.

The coaching change was announced a day after a 3-2 home defeat to Cesena that left Sampdoria only three points clear of the relegation zone. It was Samp’s second consecutive loss and third straight match without a win.

“Di Carlo is a great person but we couldn’t do anything else given results,” club president Riccardo Garrone following Sunday’s 3-2 home defeat by lowly Cesena.

“I don’t know yet if Cavasin will just be a caretaker. Only results count now.”

Cassano joined Milan in January following a clash with Garrone and Pazzini then left for Inter.

Cavasin was most recently in charge of Swiss top-flight side Bellinzona. He has been given a four-month contract.
