Slovakia national coach Dusan Galis has resigned after the 4-1 defeat by Germany in a Group D Euro 2008 qualifier.

Slovakia went into Wednesday’s match in confident mood following their 5-1 drubbing of Wales on Saturday, but they were outclassed in a match spoiled by crowd trouble.

“It is not an abdication neither a notice, but a joint agreement (on his stepping down),” Frantisek Laurinec, president of Slovak Soccer Federation (SFZ), said in a statement.

Laurinec also added that the SFZ will discuss a replacement for Galis in the coming days.
