Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni says he want to remain involved in thenational team set- up after this year’s European Championship in Portugal.

Trapattoni’s contract expires at the end of the tournament, but he admits he would like to remain involved in some capacity.

The veteran coach also dismissed repports linking him with the vacancy at Tottenham. Earlier this week, Il Messaggero reported that the coach had secretly agreed to come to White Hart Lane after Euro 2004.

“Every year, around about this time, the whispering starts, but on my part, there isn’t a shadow of a doubt; I’d like to remain with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC),” he told reporters.

“I don’t know what I’d do (at the FIGC). We’d have to see.

‘But I feel confident it’ll happen, as should all fans of the national team.”

Trapattoni is the most successful Italian coach of the modern era.
