Marco van Basten has revealed that he has held talks with Ajax about becoming the club’s next manager.
Adrie Koster is to remain in charge at the Amsterdam ArenA until the end of the season, but the club have spoken with Van Basten.
Van Basten, who will stand down from his current role as coach of the Dutch national team at the end of the Euro 2008 finals this summer before stepping down, explained that talks are ongoing.
“Last week I had a talk with Ajax. We talked about my thoughts on working there,” he said.
“It is early days. I understand there is another candidate. There will be another talk next week.”
