Internazionale have dismissed reports claiming that they were prepared to sell striker Christian Vieri to Chelsea.

According to reports over the weekend Chelsea were posied to make a move for Vieri when the transfer window reopens In January. However, the club insist the Italian international is staying put.

“Vieri is not on the transfer market,” said Inter sporting director Marco Branca.

“We are talking about Italy’s best striker, a player that has scored many goals for Inter and who is undoubtedly a protagonist at this club,” added Branca.

“The fact that others are scoring regularly for Inter this season as well is simply a positive for our club. ”

Vieri is absolutely not under discussion. He is not for sale.”

Vieri has at times cut a forlorn figure this season. He continues to score goals but his relationship with the fans has deteriorated, and last week, refused to celebrate his strike against Arsenal in the Champions League.
