Marseille are set to sign former Liverpool midfielder Boudewijn Zenden.

Zenden left Liverpool at the end of last season after his contract expired at Anfield.

The former Dutch international is currently in France discussing terms over a move to Stade Velodrome.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “Boudewijn Zenden is at Marseille.

“He is currently taking medical exams as a pre-condition to him signing, and should then sign for two years at OM, before being presented to the press.”

The 30-year-old could link up with former Liverpool team-mate Djibril Cisse at Marseille.

Marseille are keen to sign Cisse on a permanent basis after he spent the last season on loan at the club.

“That is part of the game, but we will make it,” Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo told France Football.

“We remain very confident.

“However, we are forced to imagine a failure, because we won’t put the club in danger for Djibril to join us.”
