FIFA president Sepp Blatter has backed plans for video replays to be used to see whether the ball has crossed the goal-line or not.

Although opposed to other forms of video technology, Blatter has admitted that goal-line cameras could be a useful edition to the game.

“I agree with goal-line control, but so far, with all the research being done, we have not yet found a solution which is practical and could be applied.” Blatter said.

He added: “We don’t want cameras for offside or deciding whether something was inside or outside the penalty area. That should be left for the discretion of the three referees.”

Blatter also confirmed that referees and their assistants would be in constant contact with each other through radio earpieces during this summer’s Confederations Cup.
