El Hadji Diouf has expressed his regret at beingthrown out of the Senegal squad on the eve of their 3-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Liberia.

Diouf was dropped from the squad after being caught nightclubbing on the morning of the team’s departure to Monrovia for Sunday’s game.

In a statement issued to the Senegalese press agency APS, Diouf said: “I regret not being part of the travelling party. But as I always say a team does not depend on a single player.”

Diouf, who is currently on loan at Premier League club Bolton Wanderers, received backing from his team mates whose demand that he be reinstatedin the squad, led to a delay in the team’s departure.
