Bolton Wanderers’ Senegal international midfielder Khalilou Fadiga is expected to be released from hospital today following overnight tests on his heart, the Premier League club said.

Fadiga collapsed during the warm-up for Bolton’s home League Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

Bolton said the 29-year-old, who underwent heart surgery in May to correct an abnormal heartbeat, had fainted.

“Due to his past history we will have to be careful,” said Bolton manager Sam Allardyce.

Fadiga joined Bolton in September after an 18-month absence from the game due to his heart problem. He had been at Inter the Italians and had his contract terminated on medical grounds.
