Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden has been ruled out for six months as a result of the knee injury he picked up in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.
The 25-year-old Holden was injured in a challenge that saw United defender Jonny Evans shown a red card. He will miss this summer’s Gold Cup.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle says Holden “has such desire, strength of character and a winning mentality, and he will draw on all those attributes in his rehabilitation.”
Holden missed two months last season because of a broken leg, but recovered in time to play at the World Cup.
