Struggling Spanish side Espanyol have completed the signing of Liverpool defender Gregory Vignal on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old had spent the first half of this season on loan at Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Espanyol manager Luis Fernandez has been searching for a left-sided defender, as current incumbent Pierre Wome has failed to settle in.

Vignal is the second player to join the Catalan club during this transfer window after Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino joined from Bordeaux.

Espanyol lie bottom of the Primera Division.
