Georgi Yartsev will lead Russia at the finals of EURO 2004 after signing a two-year deal with the Russian Football Union (RFU).

RFU president Viacheslav Koloskov confirmed Yartsev would stay in charge of the national team until the end of the qualifying campaign for the 2006 World Cup. Russia have been drawn alongside Portugal, Latvia, Slovakia, Estonia, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg.

Yartsev, who was appointed in August last year, had been out of contract after leading Russia to EURO 2004 via a two-legged pla-off win over Wales.
