Real Mallorca striker Juan Arango has been released from hospital three days after being knocked unconscious following an ugly collision with Sevilla defender Javi Navarro.

The Venezuela international suffered a broken right cheekbone as a result of the clash.

Mallorca have since demanded action be taken against Navarro for behaviour they describe as “going beyond the acceptable limits of football”.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido defended Navarro, saying it was clear the incident was unintentional.

“We will try to show that it was an accident and that he should not be punished,” Del Nido was quoted as saying in Marca.

“The media have already made their minds up he should be punished and it will make it difficult for the committee to act objectively.”
