Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp plans to extend his stay at Highbury despite suggestions earlier this season, that he would retire at the end of the current campaign.

The former Dutch international’s contract expires in the summer but 33-year-old Bergkamp, believes he is worth another contract with the current Premier League champions.

‘What better is there to do than play football? The most important thing is that you are physically well and I feel great,’ Bergkamp told the Daily Star.

‘I’ve always lived to play football and it helps if you take care of your body throughout your whole career.’

‘I played at Ajax professionally for seven years so I’ve been here longer. It feels more like home,’ he added.
