Jose Manuel ‘Mane’ Esnal and Radomir Antic have emerged as the favourites to succeed Miguel Angel Lotina as Celta Vigo coach as the club look to make a quick appointment.

Following Lotina’s sacking yesterday Celta were believed to be in the hunt for former Real Madrid boss Vincente Del Bosque but he apparently turned down the opportunity to return to the game.

Del Bosque’s decision left Mane and Antic in the frame and the Galicians have reportedly held talks with both candidates, proposing to offer one of them a contract, initially only until the end of the season.

Club spokesman Sabino Lopez revealed the club’s desire to find an experienced replacement for Lotina within the week.

“The intention is that he will be present at the Cup game (this Wednesday),” said Lopez.

“Lotina’s substitute will be one of the many names mentioned in recent days.

“He will be Spanish or someone who has a deep knowledge of our country’s league.

“The president has set some financial restrictions that we will try to keep within.”
