Real Sociedad manager Raynald Denoueix believes that the forthcoming departure of Javier De Pedro is in the best interests of the club.

The Spanish international winger has been told that he will not be offered a new contract when his deal expires in the summer.

The French coach insists the choice was taken for footballing reasons and notm as some have suggested, because of feud between the pair.

“The club has taken the decision that De Pedro will not be continuing here, and the responsibility of everything that happens on the pitch is that of the manager,” Denoueix declared.

“I gave my opinion on the subject and the club then took the decision, for that reason I take the responsibility.

“It would be interesting to ask him about the motives for the decision.

“I had no interest in getting rid of him, I simply look to do the best thing for the club.” Ê
