Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Jose Molina been forced to go into temporary retirement as he undergoes treatment for testicular cancer.

The 32-year-old Spanish international is to endure a course of chemotherapy after tests showed the recurrence of the illness that first.

Molina appeared at a press conference alongside Deportivo president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro, who described the player “a very special person”.

The keeper confirmed that he had had surgery on a tumour that was benign in June 2001.

“The doctors will see me tomorrow, do some more tests and plan the course of treatment,” said Molina.
