Lyon striker Giovane Elber has confirmed he is considering returning to Germany after failing to settle with French champions.

The 31-year-old Brazilian forward joined Lyon in the summer after leaving Bayern Munich and despite the club’s impressive form this season which has seen them reach the last eight of the Champions League and in with a shout of retaining the French title, Elber is unhappy with life in France.

“It was a mistake to leave Germany,” the 31-year-old told German TV programme Premiere.

“I am afraid that I won’t succeed here in Lyon.”

“I am making up my mind about what will happen if things don’t improve for me and I can imagine that I will return to Germany.

“Only now have I realised how good life in Germany has been,” Elber added.
