Spain have received a boost with the news that Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas came through a full training season.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been out of action since April after cracking his fibula, and at one point was deemed doubtful for the forthcoming World Cup finals.

But he played a full part in a training session match watched by 2,000 fans, while Liverpool striker Fernando Torres trained on his own on Monday.

Torres is recovering from a knee injury after undergoing surgery on a torn cartilage in April.

Speculation over Fabregas’s future at Arsenal has intensified after the midfielder, in answer to the question, “If you leave Arsenal, will it be for Barcelona?”, replied “Yes”.

“You see your Spanish team-mates succeeding here at Barcelona and it is exciting because you have worked alongside them for so long,” he added.
