The former Colombian forward has revealed that his own range of condoms is already being produced in China.

The condoms, planned to be on sale in Colombia initially, will be sold under the brand name “Tino”.

‘Some friends of mine in Medellin came up with the flavoured condoms idea, and I thought it would be fun to help out,” he said on Bogota’s Radio La FM.

“The main goal for me, really, is to support a campaign to prevent Aids and teen pregnancies, with a line of condoms.”

The condoms will come in all sizes and in a variety of flavours.

“I’ll recommend the guava flavour condom,” Asprilla added. “When I was growing up, we had a guava tree in our garden and that’s a flavour and aroma that’s very good for romancing.”

Asprilla has kept busy since officially retiring from professional football in 2009 – though he had not played professionally since 2004. He has been  setting up an academy in Colombia, with links to one of his former clubs Newcastle.
