Diego Forlan has been recalled to the Uruguayan national team after resolving his dispute with coach Jorge Fosatti.

The former Manchester United man has been in sparkling form since his move to Villarreal, scoring 17 league goals in 23 games.

However in January Forlan along with Internazionale forward Alvaro Recoba, withdrew from the national team at what they deemed unfair selection policies.

But Fosatti has confirmed that he has settled his differences with Forlan.

“I had a short phone call with Forlan because the best thing is to talk personally, as I was interested in making some things clear, I phoned him,” said Fosatti.

“I wanted to know what was the meaning of what he said a few days ago that he is a professional and that he would accept only playing for Uruguay.

“But he was very clear with his answer, he said that he wants to come as a professional and because he loves the national team shirt.

“Once I heard that from him I told him then that I will recall him to the team for the next games.

“I am happy because lots of people were worried about the situation between us,” Fosatti added.

“Supporters, officials and the press have been talking about this since a long time ago so now that this has got to a happy ending everybody should be happy and now dedicate themselves only to support the each in each match.”
