Ludovic Giuly is confident that he will be selected for France’s World Cup squad.

Although not a regular starter with Barcelona, the midfielder expects to be included by Raymond Domenech this summer.

Speculation in France has suggested that the former Monaco man is vying for one place with Marseille’s Franck Ribery, but Giuly believes he will get the nod.

“I have not played every game this season, but that is the way here,” he explained.

“But I have had a good season, and have always considered myself a starting XI player.

“Ribery is a good player who is having an excellent season, but he has received a lot more media coverage than me.

“I would not understand it if I was not picked, whether it was Ribery or someone else. The most important thing is to be in Germany.

Giuly is unsure where his long-term future lies, although a return to France looks on the cards.

“I have a lot of offers, from France and other countries. But I have no offer from Barca, where I still have one year remaining on my contract,” he said.

“Anything can happen. We will see.”
