French striker Thierry Henry looks set to leave Barcelona after seeing little action this season, a club official has confirmed.

The France captain, who joined Barca from Arsenal in 2007, has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer club the New York Red Bulls.

The club’s technical director Txiki Begiristain admits the 32-year-old is not entirely pleased with life at Camp Nou.

“I have reason to think that he is not really happy with the situation and that he wants a solution,” said Begiristain.

“Thierry had an incredible season, but it didn’t really go right for him (because of Rodriguez).”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta suggested earlier this week that Henry could make the move to the United States.

“We are working in that direction and we will unite the interests of Barca and those of the player,” said Laporta.

Begiristain is also adamant Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain at the club, insisting the 28-year-old striker is “not for sale”.

“I think that for three-quarters of the season Ibra was spectacular,” he said.

“We are not selling anyone. We only want to have a more competitive team. But if a player, not just Henry, tells us that he is not happy we are ready to talk.”
