South Korea coach Guus Hiddink struggled to find the words to describe his emotions after watching his side defeat Spain in a penalty shoot-out to earn a semi-final match with Germany.
“I can’t describe how I’m feeling. I think now it’s a complete dream.”
“More dreams have come true. If you don’t mind we will have a little glass of champagne now and celebrate and then concentrate on the next match.
“What comes tomorrow is tomorrow, not now. Don’t ask me tactical questions,” said Hiddink when asked about his tactics for Tuesday’s encounter with Germany.
“I am so proud of these guys,” added Hiddink “Tonight after a glass of wine and beer we will get down and prepare for the next game against Germany. We are a bunch of young dogs and we will play the way we like against Germany. We are not the favourites.
“We have one less day recovery time than the Germans so the schedule’s not in our favour.
“But we have nothing to lose – we are going to play as we like to play.”
Asked about his future plans, Hiddink refused to be drawn.
‘My contract expires after the World Cup. As long as we go on, my contract goes on – until the last game we play.
“I have tried my best to give my experience to the Korea team to catch up with the international level. I am very happy they never gave up to my demands.”
