Andres Iniesta, who was instrumental in Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Sevilla on Wednesday night, has been described as the best player in the world by his team-mate Samuel Eto’o.
“Whenever Iniesta steps on to the pitch, he creates a spectacle. He is the best player in the world,” he told the club’s official website after the game.
Turning his attention to the battle for the title with Real Madrid, and the possibility of winning the crown at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Cameroonian said, “We focus on our own league and Madrid focus on theirs.
“It does not worry me where we win La Liga, the only thing that matters is to win it. Our purpose is to improve ourselves in every game and we are already achieving that.
“I just hope that we do not suffer any injuries and we can all play together until the end.”
Midfielder Xavi, who netted the team’s third goal, chipped in, “We do not want to give any message to the fans; we simply want to continue doing our work.
“We have to approach everything with humility and hard work, and show our talent.
“Despite Madrid’s result, we will not be discouraged. Nothing is easy and we have to work for everything.”
Thierry Henry, scorer of the fourth goal against Sevilla, warned that the team have not won any silverware yet.
“We are doing what we have to do, which is to play well and win, although winning is always the most important. When we’re out on the pitch, we only want to win,” he stated.
“We are in the final of the Copa del Rey, semi-finals of the Champions League and we’re leading La Liga. We’re close to winning something, but we have not achieved anything yet.”
