Former Denmark midfielder John Jensen has been appointed as the new assistant manager of Blackburn Rovers.

Jensen has previously held the same position at Spanish side Getafe and Danish club Brondby, and has signed an initial contract with Rovers through to the end of the season.

The 45-year-old Jensen was part of the Denmark side which won the 1992 European Championships, scoring the opening goal in the 2-0 win over Germany in the final.

He had a successful spell in England as a player with Arsenal between 1992-96.

Jensen, who will work under Blackburn’s new manager Steve Kean, says “from what I see and what I hear, this looks like a very exciting time for Blackburn Rovers.”
