Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo has dismissed rumours linking Sven Goran Eriksson with the manager’s job at the club.

Reports last weekend claimed Eriksson was being lined up as Marseille’s next manager, provided a proposed takeover of the club went ahead.

Canadian investor Jack Kachkar was rumoured to be keen on taking control of Marseille and it is believed he has targeted Eriksson as the club’s new manager.

Asked whether current manager Albert Emon’s position was under threat, Anigo told L’Equipe: “No. After the break, he will be here.

“It will not be Sven-Goran Eriksson, I can assure you. Albert will be here.”

Anigo also laughed about the rumours that the former England boss might take charge at the club.

“He is not even here but he still sees himself as coach, and says he will keep (Djibril) Cisse and (Franck) Ribery,” added Anigo. “It is extraordinary!

“I have seem them (the rumours) and I prefer to laugh at them.”
