A first goal from Brazilian superstar Rivaldo was the highlight as Milan cruised to a 4-1 win at Atalanta, a result that sent the Rossoneri to the top of Serie A.

Rivaldo’s goal had put Milan ahead, before Luigi Sala equalised against his former club. However Jan Dahl Tomasson and two from the in-form Andrea Pirlo secured the three points.

There was late drama in the big game between Inter and Juventus at the San Siro, as a 90th minute Alessandro Del Piero penalty looked to have given Juve the win, but Christian Vieri equalised five minutes into injury time.

The double dismissal of Inter’s Domenico Morfeo and Juve’s Antonio Conte for fighting was sandwiched in between the goals.

Enrico Chiesa scored twice as Lazio beat Perugia 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico. Simone Inzaghi grabbed theother.

Another 3-0 victory, this time for Bologna over Brescia, helped them move up to third. Tomas Locatelli andArgentinian Julio Cruz (2) were the scorers.

Torino achieved their first win of the season, a 17th minute strike from Federico Magallanes enough to beat Chievo at the Delle Alpi.

Two goals in three minutes from Brazilian Emersonand French international Vincent Candela set Roma on the way to a 3-1 triumph at Empoli. Damiano Tommasi made the game safe for the Giallorossi in the closing stages.

Other fixtures saw Coma and Piacenza draw 1-1 while Udinese beat Reggina 1-0 thanks to a David Pizarro penalty. Modena took the honours in the local derby with Parma, winning 2-1 virtue of an 85th minute winner from youngster Diomansy Kamara.
