Pavel Nedved is hoping to return from injury in time for next week’s UEFA Champions League encounter with Real Madrid.

The Czech playmaker, who suffered a knee injury two weeks ago in a Serie A tie with Brescia, returned to training on Tuesday.

“I don’t really feel in a good way, but I hope to recover for the challenge with Real Madrid,” said Nedved.

“I’m preparing myself but I don’t know if I’ll be able to be at 100%.”

“Who is the favourite to overcome this round? No-one. In this type of match both sides have a 50% chance,” Nedved told the Spanish press.

The 32-year-old was the key figure when the sides last met in 2003. He was inspirational in the semi-final victory, although that performance is tinged with regret as a booking in the second leg led to a suspension which forced him to sit out the final.
