Dusan Petkovic has pulled out of Serbia & Montenegro’s World Cup squad following a row over nepotism.
The 31-year-old is the son of coach Ilija Petkovic and allegations of favouritism have forced his withdrawal.
“He could not stand the pressure,” the official spokesman said in reference to pressure from the media for Petkovic to withdraw.
“Many things were against him and he did not want to trouble anyone, the coach or the other players.
“He did not want anything to disturb the atmosphere of the team.”
