Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson admits that he is prepared to listen to offers for Peruvian midfielder Nolberto Solano.

Solano has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, but Robson said no bid had been received.

“If an offer came in for Solano, then we would listen to it,” confirmed Robson.

“There is something in the air with Villa but David O’Leary has not been on the phone to me and they’ve put no offer on the table.”

“If there is genuine interest in one of my players, a club should come through the front door, not the back door.”

Solano has started only 17 games for Newcastle this season, although he has recently reclaimed a first-team place.
