Numancia have sacked coach Francisco Lopez after the team slumped to a fifth consecutive defeat at the weekend.

“The board has decided to sack Francisco Lopez in the wake of the club’s recent negative run of results,” the club said on its website.

Numancia, promoted last season, have won just one match and currently lie bottom of the table with five points from 10 games.

“The good work of the Seville-born coach was not reflected in the team’s position in the standings,” added the club, who named sporting director Maximo Hernandez as caretaker coach.
