Real Madrid have been told to increase their offer for Internazionale attacker Ronaldo after a bid reported to be worth _48 million was rejected by the Milan club.
The Spanish club today offered _48 million for the Brazilian superstar, a figure that falls well short of Inter’s valuation of the player.
“If Madrid do not raise the _48 million, they can forget about Ronaldo,” stated Inter spokesman Bruno Bartolozzi.
“If there are negotiations, we will speak only and exclusively of an economic amount.
“We do not need players from any club and speak less about the sale of a man like Ronaldo.”
Nonetheless, the statement is the first indication from Inter that if the money is right, they will sell the player.
Real are understood to have offered Claude Makelele in part-exchange for the World Cup Golden Boot winner, but in these days of economic uncertainty, Inter want straightforward cash deal of _75 million.
