Walter Schachner has been named as the new coach of Grazer AK after being sacked last week by FK Austria Wien.

Schachner has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and will start his new job immediately.

Grazer, who lie bottom of the Bundesliga, fired Christian Keglevits last week after a 4-0 defeat against Wien.

Wien, meanwhile, sacked Schachner last week and replaced him with German coach Christoph Daum. Their decision too sack Schachner was a major surprise in that the former Austrian international had taken the club to the top of the table and the second round of the UEFA Cup.
