So who will join Spurs in the Carling Cup Final? Chelsea take a 2-1 lead into the 2nd-leg at Goodison tonight.

The Scottish Football Association (SFA) board has confirmed the nomination of George Burley as the next national team manager.

Burley was on a four-man shortlist alongside Mark McGhee, Graeme Souness and Tommy Burns.

The SFA will now speak to Burley’s club Southampton with a view to agreeing a comepensation package over the 51-year-old’s contract.

SFA president George Peat told Sky Sports News: “We’ve gone down the same route as with the appointments of Walter Smith and Alex McLeish.

“We said from day one we had a target of the end of January and we’ll make that target.

“It’s been difficult from the point of view there is little to choose between the candidates we were discussing, but we think we’ve got the right man.”
