Newcastle manager Graeme Souness has cancelled his club’s Christmas party in an attempt to keep his players out of trouble.
“They’d planned going to Edinburgh but I’m not having any of that,” he said Wednesday.
“I can’t stop them having a quiet drink together but there’s no official party. Word would leak out where they were going and all sorts of people would be up there waiting for them.”
In an attempt to improve discipline at the club, Souness has introduced Sunday morning training and fines who players who turn up late.
