Liverpool striker Fernando Torres believes that winning the Premier League target is a realistic goal in his first season in England.

Torres believes Liverpool will be capable of ending Manchester United and Chelsea’s domination in the forthcoming season.

Much is expected of the 23-year-old striker after he became Liverpool’s most expensive signing following a£20million move from Atletico Madrid.

“Liverpool are a club that, whenever they have had bad moments, have always come back stronger,” Torres told the Daily Star.

“We have won everything and now we want the league again because we have gone so long without winning it. This is the biggest club in England.

“I still haven’t had time to think about my debut much with so much travelling but I just hope it is a great game and we get a winning start.

“United and Chelsea usually get around 90 points so we have to try to win every game.

“After Saturday we have a Champions League match and then Chelsea at Anfield, which is the game that I have been looking forward to the most.”

Torres also revealed that manager Rafa Benitez was an key factor in his decision to choose Liverpool over United or Chelsea.

“I chose Liverpool for a lot of reasons. I wanted to go somewhere where they had faith in me,” he said.

“Rafa called me and said he wanted me to be the centre-forward of this team. That was a great show of confidence in me.”
