Favourites Liverpool were handed a tricky UEFA Cup tie, when they were pitted against French side Auxerre, when the draw for the fourth round was made in Switzerland earlier today.

Former winners’ Liverpool, who overcame Vitesse last night, courtesy of a Michael Owen goal, face Auxerre, who showed their pedigree with a 1-0 Champions League win at Arsenal earlier in the season.

Another former winner, Anderlecht, face Panathinaikos.

Italy’s sole survivors Lazio, will be confident of progressing after they were drawn to face Polish side Wisla Krakow. However, the Poles have already upset the odds on two occasions this season, defeating former winners’ Parma and Stuttgart in previous rounds.

Meanwhile Celtic, who defeated Celta Vigo in the last round, face Stuttgart, conquerors of Club Brugge.

Full draw
Hertha Berlin v Boavista
Lazio v Wisla Krakow
Celtic v Stuttgart
Auxerre v Liverpool

Fourth round matches to be played on February 20, with the second legs a week later on the 27th.
