Manchester United have complained to Uefa that winger Cristiano Ronaldo was dazzled by a laser beam while warming up for their Champions League match at Lyon.

Ronaldo showed no ill effects during United’s 1-1 draw in France aand went on to play the full 90 minutes.

“We reported the matter to Uefa before the game,” said Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

“We noticed it in the warm-up and they (Uefa) are aware of it.”

Uefa will review the match delegate’s report before deciding if any further action will be taken.

A spokesman said: “We are waiting for the delegate’s report from (Wednesday) night.

“We need to get that first before we do anything. So it’s too early to say whether there’s action taken.

“Once we have seen and reviewed that (we will decide) whether we open an investigation.”

Carlos Tevez’s late goal ensured United head to Old Trafford on level terms after Karim Benzema had given the Lyon the lead.

“It gives us a good chance,” Ferguson said. “You’re not sure you’re going to get that type of away goal in Europe.

“There was an urgency to get back in the game and I think we are best in that situation.

“We made our substitutions and changed the pattern of play, and Tevez and Nani improved our chances.

“I thought they both did very well and we showed our determination to try to get back. I think we deserved it without question.”

Lyon coach Alain Perrin believes his side lost concentration in the closing moments of the encounter.

“I felt that 1-0 was a good score but 1-1 is a different story,” he said.

“It was a shame to concede a goal in the dying moments of the game but we showed what we are capable of and caused United problems.

“But the way things stand at the moment we are out of the competition, and it was a strange goal we conceded and we have let ourselves down.”
