Marseille have insisted they will not sell promising midfielder Franck Ribery in the January transfer window, despite reports linking the 22-year-old with a move to Manchester United.

Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo told L’Equipe: “Our young promising talents have committed themselves to us for three or four years.

“Ribery will definitely stay with us until the end of the season at least.”

Ribery has confirmed that both United and Tottenham have expressed an interest in signing him.

“My agent has spoken to United’s directors and Spurs have contacted Marseille,” Ribery told the News of the World newspaper on Sunday.

United are also reportedly interested in Monaco defender Patrice Evra.

“United and Inter Milan are extremely interested in landing Patrice in the transfer window,” said Evra’s agent Frederico Pastorello.

“Both have the same chance of getting him and the player has a decision to make.”
