Valencia striker David Villa says he is flattered to be linked with a move to England’s top clubs, but admits he has no intention of leaving Spain.

The Spanish international has been linked with a possible move to Chelsea in recent months, while former Valencia boss Rafa Benitez is also reputedly keen on bringing Villa to Liverpool.

“The interest in me from English clubs recently is very flattering,” said Villa in the Daily Star.

“Chelsea are a very attractive team for every player in the world. We’re talking about one of the most powerful clubs on the planet here.

“But I’m not thinking about leaving Valencia. I am focused on succeeding here.

“The fact that my name keeps being linked with a move is great for me, because it means that my progress is being followed.

“But honestly I do not think about moving. I am comfortable at Valencia and I don’t intent to go anywhere for now.”

Villa’s international colleague Fernando Torres has also been linked with a move to England, and the Atletico Madrid striker has now revealed that he could have moved to Chelsea last summer.

“Last summer it was possible to join Chelsea but finally I decided to be ruled by my heart,” said Torres.

“I want to have success with Atletico Madrid. I am still a young player.”
