Sylvain Wiltord’s future at Arsenal is in doubt after he rejected their offer of a new contract, according to the Evening Standard.

Wiltord’s current deal expires at the end of next season and the club are eager for the Frenchman to extend his stay at Highbury. However, the former Bordeaux striker is looking for a much improved offer, which has so far been unforthcoming.

With interest in the striker from several European clubs and with Wiltord’s contract soon to expire, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would rather sell the player than see him leave the club on a free transfer.

Despite the uncertainty over his future, Wilttord insists he wants to stay at Highbury.

“I love the club and I want to stay here,” he said.

Wiltord began the season in impressive style, scoring regularly before Christmas. However, his form deterioprated in the new year and when Robert Pires returned to full fitness, Wiltord spent much of the latterpart of the season on the substitutes bench.
