Jonathan Woodgate will miss the rest of Real Madrid’s season because of injury.

The 25-year-old has not played since arriving his £13.4m move to Madrid last summer and news that he will miss the entire seasonhas not come as a surprise.

Woodgate ruptured tendon as well as a thigh muscle tear shortly after his arrival and looks likely to undergo further surgery in the summer amid reports that the severity of the injury could even jeopardise his career.

“Jonathan Woodgate is out for the rest of the season. Medical tests will continue on his injured muscle,” said a Real Madrid spokeswoman.
