FIFA chief Sepp Blatter has admitted that he opposes the plan to increase the number of countries competing at the 2006 World Cup finals.
The FIFA executive committee recommended that the number of teams particpating at the 2006 World Cup finals, be increased from 32 teams to 36. However, in an interview with German magazine Kicker, Blatter revealed that he disagreed with the proposal.
‘We will look very deeply into this theme,’ Blatter said.
‘The executive committee made a mistake with this proposal.’
A final decision on the proposal is expected next month.
The 2006 World Cup willbe in Germany.
