FIFA have denied claims by CONCACAF president Jack Warner that the age limit of 45 for international referees is set to be lifted.

Warner, the president of the North and Central American and Caribbean federation, said he made the recommendation at the FIFA executive meeting on December 17 in Madrid.

“As from January, there is no more retirement age for referees in FIFA,” Warner said.

However, FIFA spokesman Andreas Herren was unable to confirm Warner’sannouncement, saying: “I’m not aware of whether or not they took such a decision.”
