Munich’s new Allianz Arena, which will host the opening match of the World Cup on June 9, requuires repairs after a a joint between two concrete slabs was damaged.
Scaffolding was put up to support the ceiling after the damage was found and repairs are planned for the next two weeks.
“The repairs should take a week and –depending on the weather – should be finished by the end of March,” he said.
The Munich stadium is the latest World Cup venue to come under scrutiny ahead of this summer’s finals.
Last week cracks were discovered in a supporting column at the new Frankfurt arena, which has also had a leaky roof.
In Kaiserslautern, a Bundesliga game had to be called off last December after a crack appeared in one of the stands of the 85-year-old Fritz-Walter-Stadion.
