Argentina coach Jose Pekerman has named an understrength squad for the Confederations Cup in Germany.

Experienced players such as Hernan Crespo and Roberto Ayala are among those missing, as well as Argentina-based players like Roberto Abbondanzieri, Luis Gonzalez and Javier Mascherano.

The eight-team tournament starts on June 15 and continues until June 29.

Two uncapped players have been selected – defender Martin Demichelis, and striker Mario Santana, who plays for Serie A club Palermo.
