The sense of bitterness which pervaded Chelsea’s controversial Champions League victory over Barcelona continues to linger, with the Spanish club’s president calling for Jose Mourinho to be banned.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has called for Uefa to ban Mourinho, after labelling the Chelsea manager a liar.

”Uefa should study carefully a possible ban for Mourinho because he deployed a cunning strategy that provoked the retirement of a referee,” claimed Laporta.

Laporta is still fuming following Barca’s encounter with the big-spending Premier League leaders in the UEFA Champions League, where the first leg in Spain saw Mourinho accuse Frank Rijkaard of going into the dressing room of referee Anders Frisk at half time.

Frisk subsequently quit football after receiving death threats from irate Chelsea supporters and Laporta believes Uefa should intervene and suspend Mourinho.

”He behaved improperly and lied by saying our technical team went into the officials’ dressing room.

”I am confident that Uefa will take measures so this never happens again.”
